Sage the Drummer bangs out some Jungle Classics

Sage drums like his life depends on it, with a glint in his eye and a big bushy beard.  He is a true Junglist in both spirit and his musical tastes and embodies what we stand for in his Junglism. He is working with us on new drumming videos in which he will be repping our latest Junglist Streetwear.

Sage The Early Years

Starting his obsession with drumming at the age of 13, listening to Metallica and Foo Fighters. He didn't find his niche until he started listening to dubstep after leaving high school. "it was a fun genre to drum to because it was new to me, but the rhythms were not very challenging" he recalls. He moved rapidly on to some complicated drum patters with artists like Chase and Status and Netsky, the fast paced rhythm and frantic beats appealing to his inner animal. (quick Muppets reference for those that know).

Becoming a Junglist

But of course, like all true Junglists, one day something life changing happened. He was at a birthday party "and someone put on "Super Sharp Shooter" by the Ganja Crew and it blew me away". From that moment, just like the rest of us, he was hooked on Jungle and his drumming would never be the same. Drumming away to Jungle Classics from Goldie, Congo Natty, DJ Rap, DJ Hype and all the other big Jungle names was now in his blood. Whether it is Old School Jungle, New Skool or Ragga, he loves it all and it all gets a play.

He told us "when I started to drum to Jungle I found freedom, freedom to do what i wanted, to be chaotic and organised with my rhythms. There are no rules"

He had the Jungle bug, the drums and bassline had got under his skin and after recording and sharing his videos he was off and drumming.

Joining the Junglist Network family

We found Sage the Drummer drumming out some classics on his youtube channel and sent him some tees to try out. Like a true legend he rocked our t-shirts in his next video and we gave it a share around and it took off.

He covered the Classic seminal Jungle track by Urban Shakedown - Arsonist (Some Justice 95) as well as many peoples number 1 Jungle track, Valley of the Shadows.

Both videos he is of course rocking a Jnglst Tee.

We figured he might like an upgrade for his next shoot and hired him some studio space for an evening of drumming in Manchester. He stepped up and smashed his version of Fire by Prizna (aka Terry T) featuring Demolition Man out of the park. He is rocking our Jnglst Headphones tee and new summer Jnglst Shorts from our Junglist T-Shirt Collection.

Sage drumming into the future

He is recording and about to release an exclusive sample pack of drums and loops for all the Junglist and Drum and Bass producers looking for some original beats. He will be giving it away through Junglist Network exclusively and he is just adding the final tweeks to the package before the giveaway begins.

Sage is a drumming legend in the making, we hope you enjoy his videos as much as we do, it's always nice to hear an old classic track given a new lease of life. Watch our facebook and youtube channel for the latest videos from him and catch up with him on his facebook page and youtube channel

If you are lucky enough to see him live at one of his appearances at festivals then make sure you show him some Jungle Love. Sage is truly keeping it Jungle and long may he continue.
